Size M is right for a small dog
For our beagle M is enough. If you have a bigger dog I would want more edge than this gives you, he is close to the seam when he turns around.

The backing is waterproof. Very large or very thirsty dogs can overwhelm any single pad; that is what the second one in the rotation is for.
